A property one- why the drawing?

Browsing rightmove, why is there a kids drawing as the first photo? Is this a new cutesy way of drawing people in?

😂 that's so funny and I have no idea but I'd prefer to buy the house in the drawing than the real one, far more fun!

Yesthatismychildsigh · 17/03/2023 18:38

That’s a bleak house. Maybe they think the pic warms up the advert a bit.

PlateBilledDuckyPerson · 17/03/2023 18:39

Presumably referencing the 'fairy tale'

"It's not everyday you get to own the fairy-tale house with stunning views, private outdoor space, and oodles of charm and character"

It's a nice house - can't comment on price as I don't know the area.

evtheria · 17/03/2023 18:41

I think that's odd BUT also a bit funny/sweet and it did grab my attention... hoping it was done by the sellers' child and not just a random one off internet!

ComeOnYouSummer · 17/03/2023 18:44

That’s funny.
I used to have the same kitchen chairs.

ScottBakula · 17/03/2023 18:46

How strange !
The ( real ) house looks a bit soulless but I quite like it except that flaming huge grey radiator !
The virtual tour video is useless, " ooooh look what you can see if you could stand 100s of feet above your house , you can see . . . . . . . . . . . . Umm the rest of the estate "

onepieceoflollipop · 17/03/2023 18:54

It’s even got a title ‘view of property at front’!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 17/03/2023 18:57

How funny! Part of me hopes they included it by accident Grin

This is a bit odd though "It's not everyday you get to own the fairy-tale house with stunning views, private outdoor space, and oodles of charm and character"

I mean, it's a perfectly nice house, and nicely finished from what the photos show. But I wouldn't say it has 'character'?! If it has nice views, why don't they show them. It just looks like it's completely surrounded by the rest of the estate from the video, which, again, fine - normal even. And both front and back outside spaces are street facing, so hardly 'private'. Really odd description.

JellyBeanFactory · 17/03/2023 19:02

Where's the stunning views?
The drone above the house showed the nearby caravan park! Most odd.

mnahmnah · 17/03/2023 19:04

Where exactly are the oodles of charm and character?

There’s an estate agent in a nearby town to us that always does crazy descriptions. Makes them stand out I guess. Wonder if these are the same?

Mitchumforthewin · 17/03/2023 19:06

There’s no charm at all in that house. Bland and soulless. The drawing is the best bit about it.

Marchforward · 17/03/2023 19:09

It’s a 3 bed house being described a 4 bed. A cynically person may say the picture was included so people would share the link on the internet.

The oodles of charm and character are in the child's interpretation Grin

PlateBilledDuckyPerson · 17/03/2023 19:13

Some of the description reads like a tourist brochure for Mexborough - what is this doing in the property spec?

"With a menu designed to satisfy the popular and friendly 'George & Dragon' maintains the character and charm associated with a traditional coaching inn, just a short walk to the train station. The Old Market Hall is another popular historic village pub that prides itself on its rich 125 years of history. Operated by Weatherspoon's, the site delivers on good quality meals and an array of wines and ales."

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 17/03/2023 19:15

Ha ha i love it! Shame the house is so bloody boring and devoid of any style at all.

DisforDarkChocolate · 17/03/2023 19:17

There's a kid in that house desperate for some colour in their life.

Do you think that's a picture of where they want to move too?

CanadianJohn · 17/03/2023 19:17

I notice the house was sold for £152,500 in 2019, so it must have had pretty extensive renovations.

Also, I quote "Properties in S64 0HF had an overall average price of £175,000 over the last year"

Not that I know anything about UK prices.

MonumentalLentil · 17/03/2023 19:18

The drawing is to distract the eye from the gloom and misery of the house. If the drawing is meant to be of the house, the poor child is delusional and needs therapy.

babynoname22 · 17/03/2023 19:22

£400000 for Mexborough!!!!! The house is nice but Confused

SpacePotato · 17/03/2023 19:43

Completely renovated throughout

Translation - completely stripped of any and all original character and charm and turned into a dull identikit bland box.

ComeOnYouSummer · 17/03/2023 19:44

I like the decor.

Paturday · 17/03/2023 19:48

I thought it would be a kid’s drawing of the actual house but no, the drawing has way more kerb appeal than the actual house!

Real house is depressing and fugly 😢

I was disappointed that the house doesn't look like the drawing too Grin

TheGriffle · 17/03/2023 19:54

It’s bloody expensive for Mexborough. Did they mentions the rife gangs in the description as they’re still fairly active I believe!

That's what I was thinking. £400K! If I was spending that much on a house, it wouldn't be in Mexborough!

The reason why there are no pictures of fabulous views is that there are none! Mexborough is very run down!
