I hate my fruit bowl, help me choose a new one...

The one I have is metal with a hook for bananas. When the dc were small it worked ok, but the metal bars sometimes cut into fruit, which is annoying.
I'd like one a bit smaller and without the hook, we hardly ever eat bananas!

What’s your vibe? Pressed glass? Coloured glass? Handmade by a local potter? Jolly retro plastic? When I was childminding we had a long wooden one that worked well but would be too big for us now.

Rustic.
I like the idea of handmade by a local potter, but years of tiled floors, makes me a bit a averse to anything easily smashed.

If unbreakable is your no. 1 criterion, try looking for bowls marketed as "salad bowls" or "pasta bowls". Shops often sell wooden salad bowls in the summer, which could also be used as fruit bowls.

But in your position, I'd spend a happy afternoon in the local pottery studio painting my own fruit bowl. It's a really fun and relaxing activity, they usually have helpful staff and lots of examples on hand to inspire you, and since you're doing it yourself, you'll get the fruitbowl of your dreams. True, a pottery fruit bowl is breakable if dropped, but how often do you pick up a fruit bowl? Mine just sits on the table most of the time!
