My dad's health has rapidly declined over the last 6 weeks. Gone from independent living to a care home. He's really weak, really frail. Really unwell. In his mid 60s so not an old man. Went to see him yesterday and I don't think he even enjoyed seeing me. He's so depressed. Won't let me help him with anything, financial organising, emotional, nothing. Drove home and just cried and cried.

So so tough. The end of life can be cruel. I'm sorry I have no advice. Sending love & support xx

I hope he starts to feel.more settled. I can understand you feeling upset. Hand hold

Handhold here. That must be really hard to see, especially as your dad is still so young. Hopefully he will have some better days soon, once he gets settled in.

Thanks for your replies. I've honestly never seen someone so depressed and absolutely just done with life. I want to help him but I feel like he won't let me. He also lives miles away which makes everything so much harder.

So sorry op. My dad is older (79) but I know that when I saw him as a frail old man, it really shocked me, which sounds silly, but it felt like a tipping point was followed by a really swift decline. I’m full of sympathy for you - it’s hard. I hope that he’s offered some help to try and lift his spirits.

ArianahX · 16/03/2023 21:45

Oh no sorry to hear about your dad feeling so depressed & poorly.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 16/03/2023 22:16

Handhold from here too. I bet he was grateful to have you there, he may just be so overwhelmed with it all that he doesn’t know what to do.
Do you have any siblings? It’s awful seeing them unwell and not being able to “fix things”.

Hand hold but not going to read on as too close to home. Be there for him as much as possible x
