Peridontal disease

Finally managed to get back onto my dentist's books, having missed an appointmemt pre Covid and then basically nothing during the Pandemic (head in the sand situation)

Im pleased to have gone but my God I'm panicking now as my dentist said I have periodontal disease!

i feel so alone and worried about it and ashamed.

Has anyone got experience of having this and has it improved over time?

The plan going forward for me for now is a few hygienist appointments and for me to put in place a more diligent tooth brushing technique.

What else can I do?

You need a thorough cleaning regime. Get a clean, scale and polish to get a good start. Then thorough brush and floss twice a day. I use corsodyl toothpaste and corsadyl/chlorohexadine mouthwash at night. I see the hygienist 4 times a year. This keeps mine stable.
