I'm need of a dress please

Hi I'm a bit clueless when it comes to fashion so I'm hoping for a little advice please.
Looking for a dress for a formal gala. I'm petite 5ft 1 aged 38 but size 12-14. I've seen loads of gorgeous floor length dresses but they're advertised as bridesmaid. I cannot see the difference between an evening gown and bridesmaid dress. Colours I love are navy, red and emerald green. Thanks

IMHO they are no different but shops feel they can usually charge more for anything to do with weddings

I know evening gowns are usually more beaded and bridesmaid dresses usually more plain to allow the bride's dress to show but personally I prefer more plain and then nice jewellery and accessories.
