Online glasses companies. Who is good?

Dh needs new glasses and he has been quoted £800. We are wanting to look online but what companies are good and what ones to avoid?

Glasses direct are good. Most are pretty ok. Make sure you check the numbers in your existing classes if they are a good fit and match these numbers on the new glasses. This gets a good fit.

Direct Sight are great. I got glasses just under a year ago and the lenses went cloudy and they repaired them under their year guarantee. I think it was the blue light tint I got on them so I've gone without.

DH and I both got some from Glasses2You a year ago. Just been to the opticians and had eye tests and ordered a new pair from Glasses2You again. Just paid £219 for the thinnest varifocals with all extras possible (apart from tints) and one of their most expensive frames (Ted Baker, actually went for the same frame as last year). Was quoted about £800 from the opticians last year for the same kind of thing. Their online 'trying on frames' works well and they will replace or refund if you are not happy, unlike a lot of the other online shops I looked at.

I have used Glasses Direct a couple of times and never had any issues. They send you I think four or five frame options and it's all done very quickly.

How do they measure widths and comfort?

I normally get mine from glasses direct, always had good customer service if I've had issues and like the 5 trial option so you c an see different frames.

I used Pretavoir for varifocals, got them for £350 instead of the £800 quoted on high st. Very good.

We use Spex4less. Really good service. We’ve had to return for minor adjustments and they do a money back guarantee if you’re not happy with them. Also repaired my daughters frames when she snapped them for no charge.

They usually tell you, but your existing frames should have the measurements on the arm inside. If they're comfy order the same

I've had a couple of failures with online glasses in the past, even with the PD measurement.

Whilst I love my local independent optician, I rarely have much change from £600, so I went to Asda this time. 2 pairs of varifocal, thinned lenses, all the coatings etc for less than £200. They don't have designer frames, but they are cheap! (My frames are from their most expensive range, one set in Converse, the other is Orla Keily. Low level designer IYSWIM).

Sane basic service as my shiny independent optician, but 1/3 of the price.

My sister raves about Glasses Direct. She has loads of pairs that are lovely and seem very cheap.

Unfortunately for me my prescription is too high. Think they only go up to -8 or -9.
