Yes I noticed that! It’s a really stiff texture and hard to spread. Useless for me because I have to have gluten free bread which is more crumbly, and NewGlueyMarmite just tears it to shreds.

I noticed that this week but assumed it was because our kitchen is like an ice box. Hope so - I love it so much I take it on holiday with me.

Marmite is very hit and miss now, my ds lives on it and it's a PITA when it's super thick, especially as he doesn't have butter.

I use the Meridian version as its GF, and it's a much better consistency (but if anyone tries it make sure to get the salted one as the unsalted is vile).

Marmite isn't suitable for coeliacs as it has barley in it. But the Sainsburys own brand yeast spread is GF and lovely. Easier to spread too.

It's complicated for me because it's not the gluten in wheat that's the problem, it's the carbohydrates. I'm not coeliac. I can eat pure gluten! The only way to have wheat-free bread is to eat gluten free. Rice flour, potato flour etc are no problem.
Yeast extract of any kind isn't great for me but I am OK with the small amounts you put on bread.
I'll try Meridian, if I can find it.
What about Vegemite, is that a better texture?

Yes it's gloopier and so is the supermarket own brands now. I get vegemite as it's still untouched.

I found it was that the kitchen was cold. My dad used to keep it in the fridge (I know) and it has been a similar consistency lately. From the same jar too!

I have a marmite hack! When I'm making toast, I balance the jar on top of the toaster. It heats up just enough to make the marmite quite runny and it's very easy to spread.

No! I’ve noticed this too but thought it was the cold weather. What has been done to it?

Asda's is gluten free as well. I can't tell the difference between Marmite and Asda's own except the price

My kids have the lower salt one and it's much easier to spread, I noticed last week. I don't have butter either so tough-to-spread marmite breaks the bagel!

The Aldi fake is undetectable, in my opinion (and half the price).

Seconded! We notice we were busting toast with marmite last month but we have been shutting the door to the kitchen at night as it's a draft zone. The Aldi one is a very strong contender on a blind test and much easier to spread. DH and I think we're converted for life on it and we're lifelong marmite lovers

I've not noticed any problems with it. I buy it in big tubs, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Is the stiff Marmite perhaps just cold marmite.
