I think I have nipple thrush (breastfeeding)

Oh gosh… just 1.5 weeks in and I think I already have come across a problem!!

I shouldn’t surprised thinking about it, because in all honesty this past week and a half I have just been braless… in a vest… in dressing gown.. no bra pads etc.

I am now washing them after each feed and changing pads frequently. However I obviously need treatment for it to clear.

Can’t get to gp until tomorrow and wondered if anybody has used Daktarin oral gel? It says on boots website suitable for babies 4 months and over which contradicts what some other mums on old threads on here have said?

It would make me feel better if I at least got some cream tonight to start using as I am in AGONY when baby latches.

Thanks!

I wonder would nipple Shields help with the pain when baby latches or is the pain inside the nipple, if you know what I mean?

I think for babies under 4 months you need the Nystatin oral suspension prescribed by GP or Health Visitor. I found Grapefruit seed extract (for me not baby) was super effective in treating thrush.

Daktarin on your nipples after each feed, no need to wash it off it’s fine/good if baby gets.

then get some nystatin for baby tomorrow

also you need to wash your clothes on a hot wash (60) and no sharing towels

What are your symptoms OP? Nipple thrush is actually incredibly rare and it is more likely to be latch-related or something like vasospasm.
