Cost Of Living Payments 2023

Does anyone know anything further on these payments? A friend had just told me one is due to be paid this Monday the 20th? Some info on government site but no exact dates provided.

I don't think they've released the dates yet. The gov.uk website is normally updated when they do. At the moment it just says spring 2023 so could be awhile yet.

I wouldn't expect this payment any time before May.

I was hoping this would be in the budget stuff today but haven’t seen any actual dates. Hopefully it is in there just not announced in the commons and the update will come soon!

Won't be until the new tax year ie April onwards

They said they won't announce the qualifying period until it has finished, to stop people deciding to earn less during that time so they qualify.

Once the qualifying period for the first payment has passed, they'll probably release the timing for when the first payment is made.

my sister inlaw received a payment today of £301 from dwp, so we thought it was a cost of living payment?

Does your friend think this because 20th March is the official start of spring?

I imagine it will be end of April but it's anyone's guess really.

My friend is in receipt of UC so will qualify The first payment of £301 will be made on or before 5th April I think. I am pretty sure that I remember reading about it on Money Saving Expert. The first payment is coming out of this tax year’s budget.
