Where for a city break over Easter? Dublin/Belfast/Brighton/other??

Hi!

DH and I really want to go away for the four days over Easter as for once we both have jobs where we get the bank holidays off. We've considered flights to Dublin or Belfast, or driving down to Brighton (neither of us have been to any of these previously). Any recommendations? Or suggestions for alternatives? We're in Bristol so anywhere with a direct (short!) flight or max 3 hours drive would be ideal. Not Edinburgh, Cardiff or Paris!

Thanks in advance 😊

I really liked Belfast for a weekend, the museums are great - the Titanic is really interesting. It's friendly. Great restaurants and pubs. It's a walkable city The Black Taxi tours and the open top bus tours are genuinely interesting. We went out to the Giant's Causeway too.

I've been to Dublin quite a lot for work/leisure and I'm not that struck on it ...soz. I'm also not that keen on Brighton - it gets so busy. But the Hotel du Vin is lovely.

Liverpool is a fantastic weekend break - great hotels (book up quickly), restaurants and stuff to do.

Depends what you like really....

And Malaga if you fancy getting away away....really great city.

My friend has just got flights to prague for £28 return

Belfast would be my favourite from your list

Thanks all! I was leaning towards Belfast so it's good to know that'd be a good choice...

@cocksstrideintheevening I used to live in Prague and would love to show DH around one day, but the flights for Easter weekend are way too pricey!

Not Brighton! Absolute dump!

Porto? Very nice city for a short break and not too far. Malaga is also very nice, or Palma, Mallorca but that's getting further away.
Dublin we found very meh, Belfast is a bit better and you could visit Giant's causeway and Carrick-a-rede bridge which we enjoyed.

Brighton would be a hard no.

Hi! I’m biased but Belfast is great. The only thing to note is our pubs have shorter opening hours due to licensing laws over Easter. If you go for Belfast, message me and I’ll give you some hotel, restaurant & activity recommendations!

Ha, you're all kind of confirming what I suspected about Brighton!

I used to live in Portugal and know Porto well so that's a no - I want to try somewhere new 😃. I'll have a look at Malaga but I think Belfast is winning at the moment! @Bellefastgrl I may well take you up on that offer, thanks 😊
