A PIP question

Newpuppymummy · 14/03/2023 09:19

PIP renewal date was end of Feb. I sent the forms and they have them but we haven’t got a letter saying it’s been reassessed yet. I suspect it might have gone down. But this months payment just arrived in full. Will I have to be this/part of this back if we don’t get the full amount renewed?

Thanks

No you won't need to pay it back,

abigailsnan · 14/03/2023 09:28

You will continue to receive your full payment until a new assessment has been made you will not have to repay any monies so please don't worry, they have such a massive backlog at the minute so it may be a while before you get a text saying they are in the process of reviewing your claim my friend waited 9mths before she was informed her payments would continue as they where.

My dd has only just had her reassessment over the phone and her forms were sent in approx two years ago. Any monies owed to you will be backdated but as far as I know they do not ask for money they have overpaid to be paid back. I know when my yd had hers removed she wasn't asked to pay any back. Her PIP was then reinstated, thank god!

We've been waiting a year so far so it might be a while, you'll continue as you are until it is reassessed

I know from an IAS perspective the DWP just loaded a load of AR1s from 2021 into the queue that were put on hold during covid so there’s a huge backlog. Your money won’t stop until they manage the assessment

AchillesLastStand · 14/03/2023 19:21

I received my PIP reassessment form in November and I still haven’t heard anything yet. My previous reassessment only took around 6 weeks. I have heard there is an enormous backlog due to Covid and I’m trying not to think about it. My payments are going in as normal. My PIP award is due to expire in October, I hope they have it sorted by them! Best of luck with yours.

My understanding is they have such a huge backlog they’re focusing on new claims before renewals so likely to be a long wait.

ceecee32 · 14/03/2023 19:30

Does anyone know if they look at the evidence you sent in with the renewal form or of they need up to date evidence when they get round to doing it.

I sent in loads of evidence from hospital but they are talking about weaning me off some medication that makes me immune suppressed

AprilShowers223 · 14/03/2023 21:29

They do look at the evidence, depending on your conditions they establish whether a quick call can be made to get up to date info enough to write the report or whether you need a full assessment.
