Asda rewards is really not as it seems I went in yesterday and I looked at the bakery hot cross buns which were priced at £1.50 😱😱with 50p in your rewards card the price a couple of weeks before was 85p it’s all a big con I’ve noticed this on loads of things at Christmas the gin had a reward of £2 in your rewards but it was priced at £17.99 making it £15.99 it was priced at Tesco for £13.99 and Morrisons at £14.99 they are just upping the price on everything to make it look cheaper it’s not it’s a great marketing ploy check it out your self I noticed it on nappies as well they are much much cheaper in Aldi and to be fair the are great quality at albie I’ve bought them for everyone of my grandchildren 😱😱

I just buy the stuff I would normally buy.

The rewards build up... think I've had £70 since it started.

It's not a con. It's just giving you the 50p discount later and actually a bit clever.

So Tesco sells item X for £1, dropped from £1.50. instant 50p saving.
Asda sells it for £1.50 and outs 50p in your cashpot.

Tesco, you go in e, get a 'discount' immediately, feeling pleased and increasing loyalty and/or buying something you wouldn't usually it didn't intend to buy.

Asda, you're forced to go back to the shops and spend that 50p on something else in a second shop. Where you're more likely to spend more than planned. It's a good way to guarantee you'll come back to the shop.

They're both doing it for the Big Data and loyalty.

The big hot cross buns were never 85p I don't think. The Bakery 6 hot cross buns were. Different product. Anyway, it's not a con, just marketing.

I have had a weekly Asda delivery since summer 2018 and I kind of agree. Notice loads of things which have increased in price. Sainsburys is cheaper & better quality now (Asda Chicken is awful now).
Tied into my delivery pass until October but will be changing after that for definite.
