How much money for 17yo?

Just wondering if I should be giving 17yo ds more money, he's studying for A levels so at school during the week and I give him £5 a week pocket money. He works 3 shifts at a local pub and during the summer holidays he'll work a 2nd job.
He was desperate for a car so it was his birthday present, nothing fancy, and he has covered everything else, insurance, tax etc. He's paid for this by saving all birthday and christmas money for the last 3 years and not spending his earnings.
I cover his clothes, toiletries and haircuts, but should I be giving him more pocket money? Is £5 a week stingy?

DS just turned 17, he hasn't had pocket money for over a year as he has a job. We buy all his toiletries, pay for phone, sky in his room and other general stuff. He buys his own clothes, shoes and stuff for his work. He earns anything up to £1k a month in busy periods, on average over the year about £700-800 a month so he really doesn't need pocket money. He could probably contribute more to the stuff we pay for him but he is really good at saving money so I am happy for him to save lots for the future. Once he has to pay lots of bills he won't be able to save and enjoy his money in the same way. We can just about afford it at the moment but if we can't then he can pay for a bit more.

If your DS is working 3 shifts every week I am not sure why he needs pocket money, it sounds like you are paying for quite a bit for him.

I expect my DCs to work whilst at college, it is not like they are working full time, they should be able to manage studying and working a few shifts IMO.
