How much sleep do you get?

My Fitbit tracks my sleep and on average I get 6.5 hours per night. I typically wake up naturally (without need for an alarm clock) and can't say I feel sleep deprived, but most people I know would say they'd need 8 hours in order to feel properly refreshed.

So just wondering (if you know!) how much sleep you get on average most nights? Is it enough? Or do you need more?

I get about 7.5hrs before I wake naturally.

emmathedilemma · 12/03/2023 19:07

I tend to average at least 8 hours of the week. Some nights a bit less and others a bit more and I often wake up naturally between 6 and 7am. I don’t often sleep in after 7 although over Xmas when I was off work I was hitting 10-12 hours a night for a week!

6-8 depends on how tired I get

I have an anxiety disorder and also am perimenopausal. My sleep is horrendous- I average four - six hours a night. To be honest, it’s really starting to show on my face. I look dreadful but am not sure what else I can do.

TeeBee · 12/03/2023 19:23

Around 5 1/5 hours. I've never needed 8 hours ever...in fact it makes me feel lethargic.

catsandkid · 12/03/2023 19:29

Can cope well on 6 hours and feel pretty normal. Sleeping better recently (previously had awful insomnia) and mange about 7.5.

Any more than 8.5 and I feel it's hard to get out of bed in the morning oddly!

USaYwHatNow · 12/03/2023 19:33

Bugger all at the moment 😂 (6 month old baby) but before pregnancy and baby about 7-8 hours a night.

Deadringer · 12/03/2023 20:15

I get on best with about 8 hours sleep but I usually average about 6. If my bladder doesn't wake me one of the family will, even if they creep around I am instantly aware if someone is up and about. I am always tired.

melbella · 12/03/2023 20:27

5 hours usually, though often less. I wake up around 4am for some unknown reason, and don't go back to sleep.

Myusername4321 · 12/03/2023 20:29

Work/school run day 7-8 weekend 9-10 but sometimes I feel worse on a morning having more!

ForestofBears · 12/03/2023 20:33

About 5hrs, apart from the night each week I work a night shift and don’t get any sleep, the night after that I go to bed early and get up later so get apart 8 or 9hrs. This is definitely not enough sleep for me.

Kranke · 12/03/2023 20:34

6-7hrs generally. Weirdly I’ve more sleep since having a baby as I don’t get to work as early! Have always been a night wee-er though, so will get up once or twice and go back down (generally!).

DelilahBucket · 12/03/2023 20:45

7 - 7 1/2 hours usually. I feel best rested on 8-9 but it isn't possible and I have a DH who happily gets by on 6.

namechangeforthisbleep · 12/03/2023 20:49

I can't sleep more than 5 without sleeping tablets. I seem to be fine ish on 5 but every so often I'll pop a pill to get more and bank that sleep psychologically to make me feel better about the fact I'm defo not getting enough

Nowthatlovehasperished · 12/03/2023 21:11

Ideally 8, but usually 7.

Izzy24 · 12/03/2023 21:14

4 hours if I’m lucky. I have long covid and my sleep is totally wrecked. I don’t remember the last stone I slept for more than 3 hours at a stretch.

Izzy24 · 12/03/2023 21:15

Last time not last stone

familyissues12345 · 12/03/2023 21:26

I probably get about 7ish, sometimes broken, sleep.

I used to sleep like a baby, solidly for a good 8 hours, but the older I've got the more I wake in the night Envy
