Night out.

A couple of weeks ago I got invited for a mum's night out, few mum's from school, pub and meal type of thing, it's next weekend.

DH says I should go but I'm not really sure I want to. There's a couple of mum's I really like and gel with but there is a couple who I'm not too keen on.

One of them, is very full on, their DC is a complete nightmare and quite frankly a bully. The other, thinks their DC is the bee's knees, and no one else's DC compares academically, and she doesn't have a problem telling you this, over and over again.

Should I give it a miss? I don't get out very often but I don't have any money really.

But then I'm grateful to be asked out and grateful of a break from the kids.

Go for it! Sit with the mums you like. Have a back up exit plan in case you hate it but I bet it’s one of those things that will be good when you get there.

@SBHon I guess I'm feeling a bit schoolgirl like too, wondering if I'll say the right thing or if they will like me. I've been around them in school settings and actives but never social/for fun.

I bet lots of them will be feeling exactly the same.

Anxiety stems from imagination - you start imagining things that aren’t even happening. So ground yourself in reality by reminding yourself of all the good bits, the real facts (eg the fact they liked you enough to invite you, it has the potential to be fun, it’s a good break for you, you get to treat yourself for a change, etc). If you know where you’re going you could even look up the menu and start deciding what lovely things you’re going to eat and drink. And remember; if you don’t get out much then you definitely deserve a treat. 😊
