Looking for some help with areas of the park etc if anything knows it well? 😊

What specifically would you like to know? I used to live near there and friends have stayed there when coming to visit. I’ve been on site a few times and been to the chippy Grin. Great location for the beach and near enough to visit both Berwick and Alnwick.

Yeah I do. Great place! What would you like to know?

@Whu @DESGUSTING @DESGUSTING Perfect! Thank you all so much. Specifically, with regards to accommodation...the area “Golf Retreat” - is it caravans or lodges? We’ve booked a caravan but just been given our caravan allocation and it says “No.X Golf Retreat Lodges” (obviously it says that actual number lol).

Also, the general area...any indoor activities for toddlers that you would recommend? Happy to do a bit of a drive if need be 😊

It's caravans. Have stayed in that area myself it's beautiful. A lot of river rats though

Loads of indoor activities. There's a big softplay, two swimming pools and an art studio.
There are mascots (The Seaside Squad) who do shows and activities with children.
There are lots of arcade games with toddler rides.
There are also animal experiences (creepy crawlies and birds of prey) and a short drive to surrounding areas where there are beaches, soft play centres, etc.
My two children have absolutely loved every holiday we've had there - we've been going since they were toddlers.

Just incase anyone else come across this thread when they’re looking for information - book somewhere else 😬 We arrived yesterday lunchtime for a Mon-Fri break and have managed to do absolutely nothing so far as we’ve spent the whole time dealing with accommodation issues 😔

OP posts:
Lola001 · 14/03/2023 23:19

What accommodation issues?

Username24680 · 15/03/2023 15:57

@Lola001 Accommodation that hadn’t been cleaned (at all! Bins still full of food and dirty nappies etc!), a leak in the boiler(so bad that carpets were wet in all rooms), gas cut out overnight and they couldn’t find a fault 🙄 so no heating, hot water or cooking. Moved caravans. Downgraded from gold to bronze as that’s all they had available. Second one hadn’t been cleaned at all either! had a faulty shower so no hot water. Leaking toilet that couldn’t be repaired so again, soaking carpet. And again, issues with the gas so no heating overnight.
We gave up and left this morning unfortunately.

Didn’t see your original posts, but my experience of Haggerston Castle was awful more recently. I’ve been loads of times when it was one of our favourites. It’s gone right down hill, cleaning is minimal and good luck sourcing any bloody food as nothing is ever open!!!

Lola001 · 16/03/2023 18:18

Oh god I'm booked in in June for some of this - soo excited, not.

PickleASturgeon · 16/03/2023 19:17

You couldn't pay me to go there. Caravan was filthy, bedding was damp and stained. If I remember correctly, you had to go through the amusement area to pick up the keys, that was if you could get your feet 'unstuck' from the carpet.
We didn't even stay a night, it was so grim.

KnownByAssociation · 16/03/2023 19:21

Oh brilliant, we are going there in 2 weeks! Only ever heard good things.

BakewellGin1 · 16/03/2023 19:27

We went twice last year and are going again in two weeks.

Last year when we went key collection was by the entrance in a wooden lodge.

Both times caravans were spotless, lovely locations... Once at top of park near golf course and other over near I think its called Badger Lakes...

Bedding etc clean and comfy well maintained caravans

Hoping for the same again

DESGUSTING · 16/03/2023 19:48

Awr I'm sorry you've had a bad experience!

It's been great when we've been!

Username24680 · 16/03/2023 22:34

I hope you all have a much better experience than we did 😊 I know loads of people that have been and loved it so maybe we just got really really unlucky. There were a LOT of people at reception complaining. From the ones I heard they mainly seemed to be about damp issues and accommodation having not been cleaned. Maybe they’ve just been poorly maintained over the winter.

As far as keys go, we just had to stop the car at the wooden hut at the entrance and they gave us a sign to hang in the car. He then explained to how veg to our caravan and the keys we’re waiting inside it for us.
