Just that really. Is it the 2nd/3rd of March or the 23rd of April? Which is it? Or is it both? I’ve often been confused by this Blush

TIA 📚

You've missed it

That’s what I thought but some of my colleagues are adamant that it’s 23rd of April?

WORLD BOOK DAY HISTORY
The first time this celebration took place in the UK was in 1995. The day was started by the United Nations, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). If you’re wondering how World Book Day UK differs from the one on April 23rd, you’re an observant cookie! The day was changed for the UK in 1998 because of conflicts with St. George’s Day as well as Easter school holidays.

There's World Book Day - which despite the name is just a British and Irish thing.
There is also apparently something called World Book Night. Maybe it's that?

StaySpicy · 12/03/2023 09:42

April 23rd is both St George's Day and Shakespeare's birth/death day.

Needmorelego · 12/03/2023 09:45

I just checked - April 23rd is World Book Night.
(And also St George's Day, Will's birthday and the day he died - poor guy. Dying on his birthday)

It was Thursday 2nd March but the book tokens can be redeemed until Sunday 26th March.

It was the 2nd March but some schools picked a different day as there were teacher strikes then.

So essentially we just celebrate it earlier than then rest of the world? 🤔 I thought English Language Day is the 23rd April because of Shakespeare, but then I kept on coming across World Book Day being on the 23rd as well.

April 23rd is both St George's Day and Shakespeare's birth/death day.

It’s also Prince Louis’ birthday. Can’t name any other royal birthday but that one always sticks with me!
