Can anyone help decipher this name...?

Posting on behalf of a friend who is tracing their family tree - we are all stuck on the underlined name, anyone have any ideas?!

I would say it's Herrat.

The writer dots all other "i"s otherwise I'd say Hirrat. Hirrat is a known name where I am in Scotland.

I don't think it begins with an H because the first name is David Hutton and the first letter of the underlined word looks very different.

I thought it said Hersat but the 3rd letter I’m not sure about

I would say Kersal.

The first letter looks nothing like the H used in the two "Huttons" above it.

Going by the e at the end of 'engine' and the r in Erskine I would also say it is Herrat

i don't think it ends with a t, when i write script i pick up my pen to cross the t, and if you notice the other t's the flow stops and picks up again to cross. i'm fairly certain it ends with AB

Looks like Herat to me.

Actually, the first letter looks a bit like the J in James in the column to the right, but I can't think what the other letters could be if the name starts with J.

I'd go with Hurat?

Or Hurrat, it's difficult to tell between Herrat and Hurat.

I was thinking Herrot/Herrat but it's not a name I've come across before.

I don't think it starts with an H. The first letter looks nothing like the H in Hutton or the Hogg under it.

It's possibly a K but if you have more than just that extract I'd go through the other words until you find another capital thar looks the same.

I thought Herrat at first but the H is too different from all the others. I'm thinking Kerrat now.

....or could it be Kerrab? The last letter doesn't look like previous "t"s

The last letter is the same as the last letter of George Aino(t?) one line down and one line to the right. I think is a T - so Herat or Henat.
