Please help!

Im making a pavlova (first time ever) for an event tomorrow. I’ve clearly done something wrong as liquid is leaking from it 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have no time or opportunity to make something else. Can this be salvaged somehow? 😣

Also, I’ve had it in for longer than the suggested 75mins, as it hasn’t got that golden look at the top yet. No idea when I should turn the oven off as it’s been in an extra 20 mins and the appearance hasn’t changed (other than the extra liquid seeping out).

Leave it in the oven to cool down overnight. Reassess in the morning.
Hopefully it’ll dry out.

TheMousePipes · 11/03/2023 21:38

I’d probably turn the oven off now tbh

Turn the oven off now. Once it’s gone brown it’s too far gone. Also don’t open the oven door until cold, ideally overnight, or it’ll crack.

I agree, turn the oven off and leave it, it'll be fine. When I make meringues I turn the oven off as soon as they go in and leave overnight, I like mine to be pure white and the come out lovely and crumbly.

The thing with meringue is some people like them crumbly, some chewy in the middle, so just pass it off as your preference however it comes out, and the cream and fruit will hide it anyway!

ricecrispieroll · 11/03/2023 21:42

As the others say, turn off the oven. Don't open the door. Leave it there overnight. In the morning get it out and you should be alright.

I make pavlovas often, they are rarely golden. You usually put fruit and cream on top anyway so nobody sees it. Turn the oven off and leave it in there.

FluffySatsuma · 11/03/2023 21:43

I don’t think the liquid is an issue, I’m sure that usually happens to my meringues. Agree with the advice to turn the oven off and leave it.

Hollyhocksandlarkspur · 11/03/2023 21:44

It looks fine to me, just cover in lashings of cream and fruit.

Thanks so much everyone. Oven is off so we’ll see how it looks in the morning :)
