Puerto Alcudia, Mallorca - Family Holiday

I’m after some honest opinions of Puerto Alcudia for a family holiday (DC will be 4 & 8). There’s a thread on here from last summer which wasn’t particularly complimentary about the place and it’s making me second guess by holiday research. Was planning on staying at the Zafiro Tropic (know people who have stayed there and recommended it, and we’ve liked their recommendations before). We want to stay somewhere where we can venture out of the hotel, go for a potter and to the beach, try places outside the hotel to eat, etc. We’ve been to Paphos in Cyprus and Corralejo / Caleta de Fuste in Furteventura before and liked those resorts.

Alcudia mosquitoes are horrendous. Of your prone to being bitten, avoid going. So many people had nasty infections from mosquitos when we were there

Also it's like Blackpool but warmer, that's the general feel, if that helps. The old town is pleasant for a wander though

We went last year with two older children. Booked last minute and had not been before and thought it was perfectly ok and not at all like Blackpool! The beach is lovely and big - and we tended to go up to the old town which was a short taxi ride away in the evening to eat out. There are boat trips and its easy to get taxis to the old town. I also like Puerto Pollenca which isn't far either.

Nice beach but with too much of a Brits abroad feel for me.

Balearic-wise I prefer Menorca.

I can’t remember where we went during covid, but it was somewhere in Majorca and it was quite windy. So take a cardigan for the evenings just incase. We went in July and it was a bit nippy for me.
Otherwise the days were nice and warm and it was perfectly lovely. I don’t usually go to Europe, but everywhere I normally go was out of bounds at the time.

Majorca was quite British, in the sense that the food was often like at home and there were Brits everywhere. Living there even.
The towny bit wasn’t too nice. Lots of bars and loud music. Lots of people drinking a little too much.

Back closer to the resort, the kids will love it though. What more do they want other than sand, sea and swimming pools! You’ll all have a great time I’m sure.

Go further down towards Playa de Muro. Less touristy, away from the inland water which brings the mosquitoes. Beautiful beach and some great restaurants in easy walking distance.

Hmm interesting. Might look down towards muro/c’an Picafort instead. Any other recommendations in the Balearics?

We went to C’an Picafort once and it was germans Abroad rather than Brits.

Cala D'Or is lovely and Cala N Bosch in Menorca.
