Im looking for a special Mothers Day meal inspiration - my mum has had a really tough year and I want to cook her a really nice meal on Mothers Day but I am totally stuck on ideas !

Im a reasonably competent cook, but generally stick to roasts when hosting. Any ideas would be brilliant 😊

What's your budget? Could you run to a cut of meat you wouldn't normally get? What does your mum like to eat and does she have any favourite foods?

Yes I would stick to a roast in this case but just do a couple of more fancy sides and a fancy pudding - special version of the usual!

Homemade afternoon tea has gone now well with my mum and nana. Or a meal
your mum enjoys but wouldn’t make for herself.

It's a bit tough without knowing your mums likes and dislikes! Salmon en croute, fillet of beef, lamb shanks, seafood paella.

I'd stick to doing a roast, as you know your timings etc, so you know it will be a success. You will be able to relax, as you're doing something tried & tested, and once the roast is underway you get a chance to spend time with your Mum.
Everyone loves a roast, and if your Mum lives alone she probably doesn't make one for herself very often, so you making one will be a real treat.

You can go to town on a pudding, choose something that can be made ahead of time, maybe a Black Forest trifle or a lemon meringue tart?

How about beef Wellington?
