My husband and I currently live aboard but are looking to return to the UK to be closer to our families. We both working (remotely) within the maritime industry so are ideally looking to live by the sea. Where do you live and do you recommend it? Pros and cons please

Heres a current thread about living in the South West (Cornwall and parts of Devon!)

We live near Weymouth. I hate Weymouth, never go anywhere near the town centre - there's so many run down, tatty streets and rough areas, & crime rates aren't great either.

On the upside, though - new B&M & Dunelm, and Costa opened last year, on the edge of town, if that's your thing.

Nearby coastal villages and countryside are lovely and within easy reach. So, swings and roundabouts, really.

Massively recommend the southwest. South Hams stunning.

Where do your families live? There's a lot of coastline to recommended depending where you'd like to be reasonably close to.

Do you want to be within walking distance of the sea? In a village, town or rural? See moved from south London to coastal Suffolk a few years ago so if you need any info please ask.

There's a lovely, gentle tv show called "Villages by the Sea". That might give you some inspiration.

What is your budget? Do you want rural or urban life? Do you have any geographical limitations (e.g., close-ish to London)?

My favourite area is North Devon, but I live in East Kent. Very different, but both seaside.
