Used car for £10k

I am looking to buy a used car for under £10k and would appreciate some recommendations.
I do a lot of long distance driving so must be comfortable and safe. Ideally an SUV type.

A few years ago I bought a 2014 plate VW Jetta that had 12k miles on it. It's still going strong after I've used it as a workhorse since I got it.

I bought it from buyacar .co.uk (not doing the link as MN systems hide posts with URLs sometimes. Anyway I'd highly recommend them. My brother got a lovely Skoda superb 2019 plate from them too and it was niiceee

I’ve been looking for second hand cars as well. Gone are the days of a few grand and getting a good runner. People and traders are wanting mega bucks for cars with 100,000 miles on the clock, ie £10k!

I would recommend a Toyota RAV4. I've bought two both second hand, the first was the 3 door and was 13 years old when I traded her in for a five door 2008 petrol, model also second hand. Still got that car and still going strong. I've had and driven various cars over the years and the those two Toyotas were the most reliable cars I've ever had, always started first time even in snow (never had a garage). The RAV4 may not be the most exciting car to drive but for comfort and reliability, plus the high driving position it gets a thumbs up from me.

If you’re not too fussy about marques or style of car, I do some research into reliability. I’ve recently said goodbye to my 22 year old ( from new)VW, and bought another VW hoping to keep it a long time.
When I was researching what to buy Toyotas and Suzuki’s were high on the list. Hyundai also in the mix.
