I've got a bad cold/ the flu (I'd still get out of bed for a £20 note though, but I've had the jab). Fever, everything hurts, and to add insult to injury I can't actually get to sleep. I'm sweating like mad, just PJ's, no covers, room is 18°. I just feel so grotty! Way worse than COVID!

I had that last week. Horrible! You have my sympathies. Get yourself some comfort TV and settle in for the night.

I feel for you. Try and listen to a podcast on sleep function, some soothing voices may help. Get well soon.

Thanks both! I think the ibuprofen has kicked in now (less achy and hot) so might try again. I'm just a bit fed up!

That sounds rough! Take a break from trying to sleep. Change of scenery might help - watch some TV downstairs? and make sure you stay hydrated!

I’ve been trying to put my daughter down in her cot for over 3hrs now. She falls asleep the minute I pick her up, and then instantly wakes when I put her down. Doesn’t seem to matter how long I wait. Even tried bringing her into our bed, but she wouldn’t settle there either.

Yours has an alarm in her arse. Mine did too. The second her arse hit the cot WHAAAAAAAA. It would be funny if it wasn't soul-destroying.

I will join you. I have been ill with food poisoning for the last 3 days. Finally stopped vomiting but now everything aches. Cannot sleep so scrolling mumsnet. I hope you manage to get some sleep.

thaegumathteth · 11/03/2023 02:12

Sorry to everyone feeling ill and dealing with crying babies.

I'll join. I've had a virus all week and now have a period for the first time in months and it is horrific. I'm going out tomorrow night and paranoid about flooding and Dd has also came home from school today broken hearted because of usual 'she said that they said that' and her friends are all annoyed with her but she doesn't know why. Oh and did I mention this period is horrendous!

Commiserations! DS (2yo) does this sometimes. If he's not ill it's usually because he's hungry but it's so confusing! Always takes me ages to figure out what the problem is!

Today's been a bit better. I just had a mooch around town (to break the monotony of looking after a toddler with chickenpox as much as anything, I was climbing the walls) and I am regretting my rock and roll lifestyle now...
