fish pie?

Because DH won't eat potatoes. In fact the only carb he really likes is couscous, but he will, at a push, eat noodles etc.

Anyone got any ideas what I should make for dinner with a fish pie mix ie salmon, cod, prawns and something else. Have a fridge full of veg.

Muchas gracias amigas

Just make fish pie without potatoes? I never put them in/on it, I serve mash with it.

Pastry ?

Italian fish stew

Red onions, courgette, stock, tin tomatoes. Add fish later, bit of lemon rind and bay leaf. Serve with cous cous

If I was planning on cooking fish pie, and my DH was being funny about the potatoes, then I'd make one regular fish pie with mash, and one individual portion decanted into a separate dish and cooked without the mash.

I love a fish soups - Norwegian style, Spanish style, Marseille style, New England chowder (althout that tends to have diced potato in it).

Also I make a quick fish curry from Meera Sodha using fish pie mixes.

Or whizz them in a food processor with garlic, a fresh chilli and lime zest to make the filling for fish tacos - thery are qwuite fragine, so turn them over in the pan with care.

Fish pie with crumble topping? I've done that before, very nice with a bit of cheese rubbed in

Or a sort of cobbler, or slices of garlic bread browned on top?

LIZS · 10/03/2023 18:20

Top with bread crumbs or parmesan instead of potato? Or fish curry, bouillabaisse?

Pipersouth · 10/03/2023 18:21

Love a fish fajita!

MajesticWhine · 10/03/2023 18:21

I used fish pie mix the other day to make a sort of cheesy gratin topped with a few breadcrumbs - it was divine.

DeerWithNoEye · 10/03/2023 18:23

Aposterhasnoname · 10/03/2023 18:23

Has someone already mentioned kebabs?
I buy Tesco fresh Fish Pie Mix, (cubes of cod, salmon, smoked haddock - therefore a colourful white, pink, yellow combination), skewer them, and grill them. You can marinade them before cooking if you wish.

Flymetothetoon · 10/03/2023 18:30

I use fish pie mix to make a delicious Thai green curry adding green beans, broccoli and prawns.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/03/2023 18:31

Fish in cheese sauce with rice.

Fish in a garlic and cream sauce with pasta.

GettingStuffed · 10/03/2023 18:44

We make a sauce with fromage frais and white wine and serve it with pasta, you probably could do it with couscous

openingbat · 10/03/2023 18:59

I'd make a tagine, assuming you have store cupboard ingredients like tomatoes, spices etc.

CottonSock · 10/03/2023 19:03

Fish soup served chunky style with olives.
Fish tagine and cous cous
Fish cakes with cous cous as the carb! Can't see why it wouldn't work
Fish kebabs with a cous cous side

ashamedmum007 · 10/03/2023 19:14

Just make fish pie, keep back some of the base, and give him his with chips or similar instead. I wouldnt give up fish pie for someone. Its my fav 😅

thenightsky · 10/03/2023 19:22

Fish pie with cauliflower mash on top instead of potato. Its much nicer.

Fish bits mixed into a tub of Phili herb and garlic cheese in oven proof dish.
Cook about 700g of frozen cauli in the microwave for 10 mins (do not add water) Stir and cook again. drain away all water. Whizz in a food processor with dollop of butter until smooth. Spread over the fish/philli combo. Oven for 25 mins 200c. Remove. Cover in grated cheddar and cook under a hot grill till golden and bubbling for about 5 to 6 mins. Done.
