Chessington - worth staying over?

My two DC have an inset day after Easter on 17th April so we’re thinking of going to Chessington hoping it will be quieter.

I’m considering making a bit of a trip of it and going on the Sunday and staying in the hotel but just wondered if there was enough to do there over two days? They are aged 8 and 10

Reviews seem pretty mixed about the park so any other views about it greatly appreciated!

Can promise you now an INSET day is the worst choice to ever visit a theme park on.

Busier than school holidays as everyone assumes the same.

But in general you can see most of Chessington in one day. The hotels are good though.

Love,love,love Chessington.
We have been and stayed in both onsite hotels many times.
You should get a good deal on a Sunday.
Spreading over 2 days you can get round at an easier pace.
Remember to book swimming as it gets booked up.

I’ve looked at the prices and it would be £297 to stay in the hotel with an extra day pass 😬(annoyingly have missed out on a 2nd day free offer which ended on 28th Feb)
The easier pace was what was swaying me as we have done Legoland before and found it quite stressful trying to do everything in one day! But it’s a lot of money so really want to make sure it’s worth it!

We enjoyed it when we went and stayed over
You can go back to rides you didn't manage on day 1, swim, see the animals again.
We went 5 minutes down the road to the beefeater to eat dinner as hate hotel food but breakfast was good

We went to Chessington and I have to say that the queues were by far the worst I've ever experienced in any theme park I've ever been to. I think the queues were bad because they aren't really that many good rides, compared to say Alton Towers, so the queues were just ridiculous. I ended up spending £££'s on extra fast passes just to avoid spending the whole day queuing.

So my advice would be to stay in a Premier Inn/Travel Lodge and use the money you save to purchase loads of fast passes.
