Birthday present for bereaved DM

My nan just died after long months in which my mum and her sisters assisted her at home (not UK). I managed to visit her alive with DS during Feb half term but couldn't fly again (funeral today).

With me working here I have very rarely spent DM's birthday with her. She has just decided to come over and visit my family next week to unwind a bit after all the stress. Her birthday is on Monday and I would like for her to find a nice, thoughtful birthday present. Could you help me please?

She is turning 65.

Thank you!

I'm sorry for your loss.

If your mum has been tired out caring for your nan, would she like a pampering sort of treat - spa day or similar?

Otherwise - jewellery or a piece of art work - you might get something nice on Etsy.

Good ideas, artwork not sure as it would need to fit in a suitcase, but like the idea of something relaxing. Off to Google what’s local…

And it is a special birthday! I am basing this on a gift I was given for my 50th. A handbag, filled with a few appropriate gifts including a pic of her mum? In my bag, which was golden and big, I had things like 1. Sunglasses 2. Bottle of champagne 3. Flowering garden tools. Each is wrapped and labelled with a suitable message. Eg my sunglasses were to cover my embarrassment post champagne

Could you spend the day taking care of her? Sounds like she could do with some pampering after such a tough time
