5 year old birthday...

Hey - my soon to be 5 year old is having his very first birthday party in a role play center (mini village with shops, ride ons cars kinda thing). We've invited his whole class (16 children).

My dh is panicking that we need to book entertainment ontop of the role play center...what do other mumsnetters think? Its a 2 hour party slot includes food - most of the other class parties have been either in village halls with music & magic shows, or big soft play centers where you loose them for an hour kinda thing. Will I need to have a children's entertainer ontop? Or do I need to organise anything else? Any experiences?

Nope, you don't need any more entertainment.

The children will be more than happy playing/eating/playing. Adding more things can become unnecessarily complicated and quite overwhelming.

It sounds like a lovely party Smile

We had DDs 5th birthday in a role play place. Didn’t need any other entertainment as the kids were all happily playing the whole time. They didn’t want to sit down for the food and quite a few just took the little boxes home with them instead of sitting to eat.

No entertainment, all sounds lovely

Thank you - ill show this to my DH he was worried after the big flashy parties we've been too that the kids would be bored with a much more intimate and gentle role play center. 😊

No you definitely don't need to!

No definitely not; the role play centre is plenty in itself.

Don't worry, OP, the role play center is going to be fun and more than enough! You can add a small touch (like a birthday slideshow with ds photos or something similar) if you wish, but I think the plan you have is nice
