Just tuned in to Radio 2 for the announcement. Great choice imho. I can sing the chorus after just one listen. listen here

I'm amazed there is still interest in this outdated load of crap! What a giant waste of money.

But, but you clicked on a thread about Eurovision yourself so presumably you are also interested 🤣

It's not my thing and sounds far too autotuned and generic so I think a lot will depend on how her vocals are live on the night. Hopefully they stage it really well and we're in the second half of the running order as I appreciate it's catchy.

She seems lovely though so if she approaches it with enthusiasm and the right attitude, like Sam did last year then I hope she does well.

I saw her live a few years ago.

pretty underwhelming tbh. Support act to a big main act so had all the staging and production, but I’ve been more entertained by buskers and pub singers.

that said, we really don’t want to win, do we? Or we’ll be landed with the whole shebang again next year.

bloody hell her mum’s cv is incredible though….

Parky04 · 09/03/2023 15:52

Dull and very boring.

Fladdermus · 09/03/2023 15:54

We haven't decided here in Sweden who to send yet. The final of selection process (Melodifestivalen) is on Saturday. Melodifestivalen is practically bigger than Eurovision itself. Several weeks of live, big stage competitions, with tickets like gold dust, in various cities, with the winners competing in the final on Saturday. I think there's now 12 possibilities but if the kids in DS's school have any say it'll be this one:

Fladdermus · 09/03/2023 15:55

Google Smash Into Pieces - Six Feet Under if that youtube link doesn't work.

howmanybicycles · 09/03/2023 16:18

It's a formulaic pop song which I guess will appeal more to primary kids than others but it's better than some of the rot we've entered. It's not going to score highly though.

I8toys · 09/03/2023 17:18

After Spaceman it would be hard to beat but this is just meh!

LlynTegid · 09/03/2023 17:40

Not as bland as Coldplay but getting there. Not a chance of finishing second to Ukraine this year.

Insipid, instantly forgettable dross. We’ll be lucky not to finish last.

No, Ireland is going to finish last. This year's offering is even worse than previous years' no hopers.

The UK entry isn't bad at all.

ShandaLear · 10/03/2023 03:05

It’s an insult to Eurovision. Sam was great last year in a very ‘best of British’ way - quirky, interesting, talented, different’. This is singing by numbers - it could be from anywhere by anyone. Bottom quarter, bottom half if we’re lucky.

LlynTegid · 10/03/2023 07:10

Ireland I wish had chosen the song by John Lydon.

Pollyumbrella · 10/03/2023 07:14

Awful song..still her sm is inspirational for young girls.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 12/03/2023 01:17

SM inspiring to girls?

No it isn’t.

UK Eurovision entry
mathanxiety · 12/03/2023 01:31

YYY @LlynTegid, it was a completely different sort of song, heartfelt and touching. Instead Ireland is sending a pile of trite shite.

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 12/03/2023 04:13

^This.

Paying to host it once is enough. This song should ensure we're not in the same position next year.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 12/03/2023 08:30

Sweden have opted to send Loreen again, except this time she's doing a song with discernable tune. The UK may have a chance ...

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 12/03/2023 08:31
  • a song with NO discernible tune

Sorry I was being sarcastic

SinisterBumFacedCat · 14/03/2023 13:55

Sorry I am terrible at reading sarcasm! (That wasn’t meant sarcastically) 😁

I agree with this. I think that the UK should have won with Spaceman personally.

So just scroll past 🤷‍♀️

Lorrymum · 14/03/2023 14:10

Back to the usual, bland UK efforts. Such a shame after last year.

KnickerlessParsons · 14/03/2023 14:23

WindowGazers · 09/03/2023 14:01

It's costing us up to 18 mil to host. Can't see Ukraine hosting this time next year personally.

All the individual state broadcasters pay towards it, although admittedly, the "big five" fund most of it.

I didn't like Spaceman that much - but I do like this year's song

BloodyHellKen · 14/03/2023 14:24

Personally I'm not keen, but then I'm not to (young) target audience) and all I could think of when I saw the video was 'how does she wipe her bottom with nails like that?' 😂
