School mum fabricating the truth

Fellow mum at school. I can’t quite figure her out. She’s one of those people who tends to talk at you rather than to you.

She sometimes says things that are blatantly not true but I think she genuinely believes they are. Sometimes directly to one of us or other times to the teacher when we’re waiting in line.

For example, when we were waiting in line for drop off yesterday, I could hear her telling the teacher that her child’s hair is so long now it goes down to her bottom when it’s not tied up. The child was stood with her mum and it was clear her hair isn’t even half that long! 🤔 Just can’t get my head around it.

What else does she say?

SilverPeacock · 09/03/2023 07:19

It sounds as if she isn’t very socially skilled combined with lack of insight into the fact that telling obvious untruths to make yourself more interesting isn’t always the best plan. Although many of us do this to some extent, just maybe a bit more subtly.

I’d pick up on this too OP, and think, ‘huh, weird’. But literally not your problem, just eye roll and move on.

Hi Op
It sounds like she is bit /somewhat insecure and lacks social skills and is socially arkward ,that she needs to make herself in her estimation what she thinks to others makes her look a bit/somewhat more interesting
