So today I (stupidly) learnt that I'm not actually a Civil Servant - I'm technically a Public Servant. Our organisation is a government managed service.
I (wrongly) assumed that I'm a Civil Servant because I'm part of the Alpha pension, our organisation is funded through BEIS and I can apply for internal civil service jobs (and applied for my role on the Civil Service jobsite). I literally never considered I was anything other than that - as if I'm honest i've never heard of a public servant before - perhaps I'm ignorant.
When my child was born last year I recorded my job as a Civil Servant on their birth certificate - but apparently that is incorrect.
Do I need to change this? Will there be repercussions if I don't? (is it fraud etc?!)
I also now need to change my car insurance/home insurance etc - though never saw public servant on those!
