A weird one - disappearing moles anyone?

As the title says - I had a mole under my chin and caught it (with tweezers trying to get out the hairs Envy) it bled and then about half of it fell off with the scab - fair enough.
However.... tonight I've realised that quite a distinctive mole on my left cheek has all but disappeared.
Has this happened to you? Is it an age thing (seeing as I'm approaching old gimmer age....), or am I just weird?

I had a mole on the side of my finger that faded over the years and has now disappeared completely. Also a mole on my face has faded but still there slightly - this one is raised and I can feel it if I run my finger over it.

i’m 46. How old are you OP?

Lockedinforwinter · 08/03/2023 21:02

Yep, had this twice. In my case both moles disappeared just after I'd been to the doctors to get them checked. Literally one day they were there, the next they had gone. Very odd.

I’ve had one on my arm that’s faded to a sort of white bump, like a scar. Come to think of it, I used to have one on my inside wrist when I was a child/teenager that’s completely disappeared (in my 30s). I think skin just moves/changes as you grow/age but you can ask your GP to check them out.

There is something called a halo nevus- the body identifies a freckle or mole as bad and then effectively eats it. I have had a few. Google!

Never. I’m envious, many unwanted moles here.

They disappear as you get older

I saw a dermatologist recently for a skin cancer check and she said if we all lived into old age, nobody would have any moles at all when they died.

I've got about a gazillion of them but I think some are now fading. Same with my DM.

I had aa large wart type thing between my eyebrows. On the morning of the day I was due to have it removed I found it had disappeared. Not the same as a mole but a similarly strange phenomenon. That said, I'd ask a GP

Wow never knew this, just googled and most moles apparently have a 50 year life cycle. I suppose that’s something for me to look forward to now!

Yes a prominent one on my arm.. I covered it up when going on a sunbed (yes young naive don't know why I thought that would help) and there was a light patch of skin around it where the plaster was and then it disappeared over time, the actual mole itself. Over 10years ago now and nothing ever came of it.. it just went😂

vipersnest1 · 08/03/2023 22:41

@pippinsleftleg, I'm in my fifties (currently denying the late bit.)
@AdamRyan, that's interesting and I didn't know, hence posting.
It's a positive distraction from my knobbly fingers (latest and worst beauty attached), so at least it's one thing to be pleased about in the aging process! Confused

YES! I thought I was the only one. As a teen I was mortified by two Cindy Crawford type moles on my face.

Over the years I stopped giving any fucks, up to the point where I realised one of them had actually just… faded away!

Relieved it’s not just me…

vipersnest1 · 08/03/2023 23:07

@ChocAuVin, you, like me, can console yourself with the fact that you're not alone, but it is truly strange, isn't it?
I'd gladly keep the mole and not have all of the other stuff that comes with age. You may well be younger than me, but at least we have this delightful thing in common.... Smile
