i'm a sixth form student, and recently got offered interviews for part-time work at both Tesco and TGI Fridays.

neither postings said anything about what they pay, and there's nothing on either website, but i know what TGI pays (and what they make weekly, including tips) since i know quite a few people there. but i have absolutely no idea what Tesco offers?

i asked on another site and somebody said £11.00 per hour, but that seemed way too high for my age group. wondered if anyone here had any insight?

Google tells me between £10-£10.55

HelloIsItYouImLookingFor · 09/03/2023 02:54

Yep, it's around £10.50 per hour as my daughter's friend works there and he is 17

Remember tips aren't guaranteed in the hospitality industry. I work for a super market and ours is £11.28 per hour, but I think you'd get less because of your age.

Tesco wages are going up to over £11 in April. I think all ages are now paid the same

I worked at Tesco a few years back and they have never differentiated wage by age.
Whether you are 17 or 34 tesco pay the same. Which is usually between 50p to £1 above minimum wage.

It’s good to hear the wages are the same regardless of age at Tesco

Everyone gets paid the same regardless of age.
wages are going up to £11.02 next month.

@kyl3
If I had the choice of tesco or TGI's I'd take tesco
There's a better variety of shifts and when I was younger I worked for Waitrose and I got some work experience at the John Lewis head office and did a graduate management programme which I think tesco may do aswell.

Apart from their new freaky person TV advert everyone I know who's worked for them says they are ok.
