Most of them! It's one of the reasons rom coms have died a bit of a death - very hard to do any kind of meet-cute, humourous misunderstandings, etc when both characters would be in constant contact and know everything about the other from a decent Google session.

They they just say ' the phone run out of battery ' or couldn't get a signal or the WiFi was down if they need to explain away the lack of tech in films and books

The thing that bugs me about LOTR. If they can get the eagles to fly Frodo to Mount Doom at the end ...why couldn't they do it at the beginning and save all the fuss?

There are loads of friends episodes which would have been resolved by the use of the internet. Or a mobile.
