I'm going to Tenerife at the weekend for 4 nights, staying in a hotel.
I'm having a total meltdown about what to pack, I will be taking a carry-on case so can't go mad!
I'm used to packing for two-week family villa holidays in Spain!

Surely it depends what you’re going to be doing and what the weather forecast is like?

ExHProblem · 07/03/2023 19:23

More info needed. What are you doing? Family or couples holiday? Day trips or lounging by pool or beach the whole time?

BingoBonus · 07/03/2023 19:33

Couples holiday, me and dh it's going to be a few days relaxing, won't be going far. The weather forecast is good.

Check the forecast and lay out an outfit for each day, and enough toiletries, then pack it? 🤔 That's what I'd do.

Undies, bikini, 1 dress, shorts, 3 tops, pool wrap, towel, toiletries, kindle, phone, charging stuff. Travel wearing black trousers and a hoodie, so you’re covered if the weather isn’t too good.

You can fit loads in hand luggage for a short trip in nice weather. Do you have a cabin bag plus smaller bag? If so, and it's with easyjet or similar, buy a bag to meet the dimensions of the smaller bag on Amazon or similar, you'll fit way more in than a regular handbag. I normally take a v small handbag that I can slip in my hand luggage for going through the gate. I was in Portugal recently for a similar length of time and managed two outfits per day, plus shoes, extra jacket and a spare handbag. Had too many clothes...

Roll your clothes, have at least two tops per bottom half. Couple of dresses (maybe some alternative accessories to mix up the look of you'll wear mor than once) if that's your thing. Use your liquid bag for more expensive toiletries (decant into travel sized pots), buy things like travel sized toothpaste and deodorant at the airport. You'll have pretty much used them up before you get back. Pack or wear a light jacket.

Chargers - get one of those multi usb type adaptors so you only need cables and one plug. Kindle instead of books if you want to read on the flight or when you're there.

Think about what you travel in - either plan to wear the same on return, or something like leggings etc. that won't take up much room. A smarter wide leg jersey trousers are comfortable for travel and can be dressed up a bit with an alternative top while you're away.

It depends on your style and whether you’ll be changing for dinner each day but I’d go with something like this…

To wear on plane - leggings, jumper, t shirt, trainers, denim jacket

pack:
swimsuit or bikini x 2
Sandals
midi dress
throw on dress - like this
cardigan/jumper x 2 (as I think evening could be chilly)
t-shirt x 2
shorts x1
skirt x 1
knickers x 6
trainer socks
pjs
mini toiletries
makeup

Which part of Tenerife? The weather in the North East is different to the weather in the South West

BitOutOfPractice · 08/03/2023 08:37

Will you be out and about in the day? Or by the pool?

I think @Workawayxx has nailed it but I’d swap the leggings for something. Bit smarter (wide leg jersey trousers?) that could work as an out fit with a top / t shirt while you’re away.

Not going to be going far in the day, most of the time we plan to stay around the hotel.
We are staying near Los Cristianos.

Easy peasy. We just take a rucksack for as many nights and get by fine and I like to take the kitchen sink usually

It will be warm, so pack your lighter stuff and wear your one evening sleeve to travel, hoodie or cardigan or whatever

I’d wear comfy sandals or trainers on the plane and pack the other. Towel (though Hotel will probably provide for you) swimsuit x2, makeup bag, hair brush, hair bands, toiletries. 2x shorts, 2x tops, 3x evening dresses or outfits.

We’re not too far from there at the moment. It’s been 21 -23 this week and due to get to 25 at the weekend. I’ve either been in swimwear or vest t-shirts during the day and short-sleeved tops in the evening

ThePoshUns · 09/03/2023 19:30

I was in Tenerife a few weeks ask and the weather was warm. I just took one cardigan for the evenings for the whole week.
