Thank you! I tried a very similar 4 letter word and it came up blue so was very surprised. Used synonyms for the blue word and voila.

what happens if you have 837, it would be a TARGET

@Friolero 982 or 980 might be the cause of a TARGET

This has got me to 998, will carry on trying.

@Friolero you're on the right track - it's a sort of synonym of 998

Also stuck, and the 980/982 clue above isn't clicking.
