If you have adhd, or suspect adhd, are you interested in Everything?

I'm just fascinated and interested in absolutely anything and everything. I'll hear something and just want to go and look it up and find out more about it.
It's always random things. Like galaxies or arctic hates (look them up. They're gorgeous) or self drive cars.
It adds to my procrastination too. Always interesting stuff to research rather than doing what I'm meant to be doing.
Is this quite common?

Oh and I see you are a HHG2G fan too!

It was one of my very first ADHD obsessions!

@ButteredJorts lurchers!!! 😍 I have 2, and read everything there is to know about them

ADHD lurcher fans are the best!

You'd be surprised how many there are...

BartsLongLostBro · 07/03/2023 18:56

I keep saying I do not have ADHD but I tick so many of the common traits!

Noluthando · 07/03/2023 18:56

Are you also me ? Everything you have described is just like me. I sometimes wonder if I have ADHD as I struggle with household management but don't think a diagnosis would be of benefit to me as I do ok day to day. But definitely don't think I have reached my potential.

MultipleVeganPies · 07/03/2023 18:58

Is there a corner on the internet for adhd lurcher fans? 🤩😁

saw a chap the other day walking a pretty dog and I said: what a gorgeous “saluki whippet cross” and he was “wha?! How do you know? Yes that’s what she is” was fun

i have deerhound crosses myself

Mabelface · 07/03/2023 18:59

The "oooh, I must look that upitis" is rife in my brain. It leads me on long and meandering paths and ends up somewhere completely unrelated.

garlicandsapphires · 07/03/2023 19:00

Diagnosed ADHD but no, not really.

BigLittleOwl · 07/03/2023 19:03

I believe I can do anything. I watch one Tiktok and take up that hobby or side hustle or DIY project.

Borntolurk · 07/03/2023 19:04

Great thread. I feel like I’ve come home! 😂 I’m always deep diving into random things, and will procrastinate until the last moment on important jobs. Manage to get lots done, but usually in a bizarre and random manner…drives my hubby mad!

Lots of neurodiversity in my family, but I’m not diagnosed with anything. As usual with these things, I knew nothing until our eldest boys were diagnosed as autistic, and our daughter has been growing into a unique young lady; only then did I find what ADHD can look like in women and girls (on a years long research dive into the topic, naturally!)

We should start one.
I used to have border collie crosses. Sisters sadly now both gone.
I'm not in a position to get any
I can't post pics at the moment or I would.

There's a few interesting threads online about why it made sense once upon a time for people to be ADHD - we are hunters rather than farmers - and that actually the hunter fight/flight/adaptability traits are becoming super useful again in a world which is less predictable. https://medium.com/welded-thoughts/adhd-the-return-of-the-hunter-fb203cf580a5

If anyone wants to go down a rabbithole LOL...

Hawkins003 · 07/03/2023 19:10

Basically in my perspective I try to be a Jack of all trades, but not quite a master of any.

Sometimes I'll was eg forensics and research that, or I'll read in the papers about eg human cloning and then research that etc

I can go through various subjects and topics, it can vary from time to time

eloquent · 07/03/2023 19:10

Yes, last night I couldn't sleep because of excitement about my MA Dissertation. I don't even need to start studying it yet, and should be concentrating on my modules. Alas 😬

TobeLeRone · 07/03/2023 19:12

I’m diagnosed autistic and suspect I also have ADHD, and yes, interested in so many things I can’t keep track of what I’m doing.
I also have lurchers - had no idea this was a thing 😂

LittleMy77 · 07/03/2023 19:13

I’m only really interested in a subset of niche topics (so not all of the stuff) I will do tons of research, get grand plans and then basically either a) get totally lost in a rabbit hole of info or b) lose interest straight away.

Holiday planning is my constant Achilles heel. Am always on a research tangent for flights, hotels, destinations and get sucked into hours of research. Also driven by the fact if I left it to dh it’d be shit (I know this because we have done this)

That is a fab perspective.
I've always secretly known it's a superpower Wink I'm just waiting for the opportunity to utilise it.

Yes and having the internet in my pocket is terrible for me. At least as a teenager I'd actually have to walk to the library to go down rabbit holes.

MyOwnVolt · 07/03/2023 20:12

Yes! (And most people are seriously fucking boring!)
