How do you slow your brain down?

First off, I want to preface this by saying I'm incredibly lucky to have this as a problem, and I know it.

I have work that I love, and that means I get stretches of time each day to myself. I live in a nice place, in the sunshine, and could easily spend a couple of hours each afternoon pottering in the garden, reading a book, doing something relaxing... Except I can't seem to focus on anything at the moment.

I'll sit down to read a book and be fidgety, getting up every two seconds to do something else, or flick through my phone, or quickly check in on work stuff, or listen to a podcast while I'm doing 20 jobs around the house at once... even watching TV I'm constantly doing something else at the same time. I can't seem to switch off.

I've never struggled with this before and my mental health is otherwise fine, I just can't seem to settle. It feels like I'm trying to distract myself from any kind of quiet time, and it's really frustrating.

Anyone else find themselves in this position? Any advice?

I have improved since practising (have been training myself to read again) and taking up yoga & meditation. I also listen to rain when working on something which requires concentration (The Beatles were correct).
