How do you take a photo of the moon?

I try with my iPhone but it never comes out well. Do I need a special camera? A telescope? Special lens? I’d love to take beautiful photos of the night sky but have no idea how.

You need a telehphoto lens, big aperture, long exposure ( slow shutter speed) , a tripod, phones are not ideal.

Thank you! That's interesting to know!

You can take photos with your iPhone but you will need a tripod or some means of mounting the phone. You want to use a long exposure setting (multiple seconds) and to do so means you cannot hold the phone as it needs to be perfectly still.

You go to a record shop. Dark Side of the Moon is bound to be available, probably on CD and vinyl!!

I use my bridge camera to take photos of the moon. They are are a couple hundred pounds but I would be lost without it and love the quality of the photos.

There's lots of youtubers (whose names escape me) that show you how to change the shutter speed/aperture settings and set the timer so that you can prop it up pointing towards what you want to capture, but still able to see the screen
