What puts you off about people’s Vinted profiles and profile photos?

Someone faved one of my things and their profile photo was a bit weird, like deliberately being a bit “out there”. They have good reviews but there’s something about it that’s setting my red flags off even though I can’t explain why.

I also hate couples photos. I want to be sure of which person I’m selling to, especially as I’ve sold a couple of bras.

I’ve seen someone who wore their clothes for sale in the sale photos, but their profile photo was of a completely different person.

You don’t have to use a photo of yourself at all, mine is just a photo of some clothes, but if you do, make it a normal one that won’t confuse people.

Also get put off by people with overly long-winded profiles where they write paragraphs of stuff about how they’re a 5 star seller and what they will do for you every step of the way etc.

Couldn't care less what people's photos look like. If they've got 100+ good reviews then I'll buy from them.

ThewaytoAmarula · 07/03/2023 13:04

I quite like it if someone has bothered to put up a pic and a brief bio, but it's not a dealbreaker if they haven't. I guess I find it a bit weird if the picture is quite a "sexy" one and they're just selling kids' clothes or sensible cardis from Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

AJ2009 · 07/03/2023 13:07

No reviews put me off.
I bought twice from two different people,
No reviews and they didn't send!

So now I only buy from people with a hefty batch of reviews and good ones at that!

Worse than no reviews is bad reviews of people not sending! Time wasters

MandaLynn · 07/03/2023 13:09

I don't think I've ever looked at a profile on vinted, other than checking reviews of sellers. And I've bought & sold loads

Beezknees · 07/03/2023 13:09

I could not care less about photos. It's a selling site, not a dating site. I have a vinted profile and I have no photo of myself. Reviews are the important thing.

bananaboats · 07/03/2023 13:12

I've never even noticed or thought to check anything on anyone profile other than the reviews!

megletthesecond · 07/03/2023 13:13

I've never checked a profile on vinted. Mine doesn't even have a photo.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 07/03/2023 13:13

I have never read a persons bio and I don't pay much attention to profile pics. My profile pic is my facebook picture, as I sign into Vinted with facebook.

Coincidentally my partner is in my profile pic and I've just bought a couple of bras off someone, rest assured they are for me. My partners moobs are more of a C cup.

The only thing I thought anyone paid attention to is reviews.

00100001 · 07/03/2023 13:13

Multiple items that are the same...so like 33 pairs of jeans.

Makes me suspect they're running a business rather than selling old stuff they do t want.

Vinted will go the way eBay did and move away from the second hand personal market

maximist · 07/03/2023 13:14

I didn't even know people had bios on there! I don't even check feedback, I just buy things I like the look of if the price is right - if they don't send or there's a problem Vinted are really good at sorting it out.

Siepie · 07/03/2023 13:17

I've never paid any attention to profile pictures or bios and I've bought and sold loads. My profile picture is of my cat - I hope nobody thinks I'm buying bras for him!

I don't mind who buys my Vinted items as long as the money's in my account.

vix3rd · 07/03/2023 13:21

Why do you care who you're selling to so long as they pay the money ?

One thing that is putting me off is when people message me after I favourite things. Makes me feel harrassed !

AddieLoggins2 · 07/03/2023 13:28

I couldn't care less about profile or profile pictures. I don't care who I'm selling to.

No reviews or few reviews doesn't put me off, that just means they are a new seller - which is understandable.

What does put me off is if they have negative reviews. Not so much for not posting - Vinted are good at refunding when the item isn't sent - but if they have negative reviews for the clothes being damaged or smelling of smoke or something.

The most off-putting thing is if the item itself is badly photographed. Blurry photos is an instant no. Vinted sizing categories can be weird too so ideally I like a photo of the actual clothes label.

Enthrallingstory · 07/03/2023 13:33

Why do you care who you're selling to? Sets your red flags off?? 🤨

cocksstrideintheevening · 07/03/2023 13:35

I have no profile photo, have sold loads, think I have 170 reviews.

I did sell some bundles of ski socks and got some seriously dodgy messages, won't be doing that again and I don't think I'd be selling bras. I certainly wouldn't buy a second hand bra, is that the angle you're getting at?

Wonderfulbutwornout · 07/03/2023 13:35

but who cares who’s buying? If you’re selling and you’re being paid, what does it matter.

Porridgeislife · 07/03/2023 13:38

I don’t care who I’m selling to. When buying I’m wary of no reviews, weird usernames with lots of characters & numbers (often scammers) and where they’ve lots of new, branded items listed.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/03/2023 13:39

I don't tend to bother with pics (although enjoy reading some peoples long bios as mine is quite long Grin) but I do pay attention to reviews.

If I'm thinking of sending an offer to a buyer I won't to those who have consistently rubbish reviews as buyers as I want to minimise my own stress and hassle as a seller

Because she doesn't want to sell her used bras to some dodgy guy if she can help it
