Did I enter the ulez zone or not ?

So I visited a place on the outskirts of the ulez and I checked the postcode just to be sure .
When I arrived I had to get petrol , it had one way in and the exit was around the back of the station , as you left the station its left into a small road of houses or right to the main road ,
I went into the small cul-de-sac to see if there was parking but it was residents only so I headed to the exit .
As I was waiting to join the busy main road again I happend to look around and noticed the ULEZ zone sign on the entrance to the road I was leaving , but this was the only way out of the petrol station!!.
I double checked and the sign wasn't on the entrance to the petrol station .

Wtf ?! If I get a fine can I contest it as I didn't enter through that way ?

I guess you mean in London. What sort of vehicle were you driving? You may not even need to pay it.

I was there the weekend in the ulez zone and don't need to pay. My new car is a hybrid. My previous, which was a 2.5 litre diesel was fine too. Just do an online check for your car, by keying in the registration.

My car is a diesel, its not compliant with ulez , I haven't paid it because of the garage not having the signs only that road

You will probably be fine. They don't have cameras at every entry point, and you only entered it for a moment so unlikely to be spotted by a mobile camera. In my experience they are quite harsh if you do get a fine and are unlikely to cancel it, but you probably won't get one anyway.
