What to do on a rainy day…

I’ve got a 3 year old and a baby.
Super stuck with ideas to fill the day.
Park is the usual easy option but it’s raining all day.
Soft play places don’t work with 2 kids of these ages as I can’t sit with baby and keep the 3yo entertained, but equally the 3yo won’t go off alone.
Any suggests appreciated. Feeling like I’m waiting for the day to be over already!

Baby in buggy, 3 yr old in waterproofs to go splash in puddles for a bit.

Home to a hot chocolate and movie.

Painting or potato print session.

Indoor tea party with teddies

Play train track or whatever toys you enjoy

Toddler groups were my lifesaver for this exact reason. At least a change of scenery and cup of tea for me and a biscuit and some juice for DDs.

Or I'd go to the library and curl up and read some books to them.

Rainy days at home with my toddler usually I get some housework done, we bake something, maybe play dough and watercolour paints out at some point. Otherwise I just let him play. Invite neighbours children over a while. Or take a drive to the supermarket

Local library, free museum followed by hot choc in a child friendly cafe. Or take snacks and drinks. That was usually my rainy afternoon go to. Gives the three year old something fun to do and as long as the baby is safe in their buggy, hearing and seeing things, that's an entertaining day for them too. I used to think well that will kill a few hours but looking back they were the best days.

It’s not very helpful for today, but I found this book The Siblings Busy Book really good for age appropriate rainy day activities that involved both children when I had a 3 year old and a baby. That copy I linked to is way more than I paid for it but maybe there is a cheaper version somewhere, or the library might have one.

Thanks all. I’ve decided a trip to the garden centre for some seeds and pots this morning. Followed by a visit to the library. Then a cafe lunch. All home for nap time. Then plant the seeds this afternoon. Actually quite looking forward to it now! Have a good day all!
