I used to love that site, some of the people where so funny. I remember one who had a flyover at her wedding ( she meant a flypast as her H was in the RAF.

Has it gone?
When I married DH ( 2nd wedding) Hitched became something of an obsession. I sold off all the wedding bits on there afterwards too. My photographer was someobe starting out who was very active on the Hitched boards.
I even did a wedding report. I wasn't a good fit though. Most of them were looking for elegant and traditional whereas I was all about good food ( lots of it) and good times. After the report the comments were all 'so genuine!, 'such a good laugh' etc, whereas most people got 'beautiful', elegant' , stunning etc etc.
Im sad to hear that it's gone tbh.

Yes, it didn’t end well for me.

my photographer had messed us about for weeks and weeks - despite being obviously chased by us. I didn’t post his name or anything - but I did enquire as a general ask if it was okay to expect to wait 3 months for the proofs and another 2 months for the photos - I genuinely didn’t know! Several people knew the area we were married in as the venue etc were mentioned and several more worked out who he was due to my previous discussions as to who was using who…

he then got really, really crappy with me saying I’d cost him loads of business (I’d never once mentioned his name, his business, or said he’d not done a good job - he had - just merely said I wanted to know if it was usual to wait 5 months to get albums) as apparently some bookings then cancelled. He said it was slander. I said it wasn’t, as if all I’d done is state the truth (5 months to get photos!) and didn’t mention his name, and that was fact, others may not want to wait that long!! He refused to give me the photos. It went to court, was ruled in our favour, and our photos were eventually given to us but no money ever refunded.

ironically I divorced the twat concerned 4 years later and now wish I’d never had the bother!!!!!

Yes I was and then migrated over to The Deadwood. However not very active and much more of a lurker, but I did enjoy the board. Some memorable moments, I remember the “fly past” and other funny moments and some of the more memorable trolls. I actually had a look on Deadwood about 12 months ago and it’s well, dead. Such a shame.

Sharkpenis · 05/03/2023 22:32

Yep. The baby and kids board was great. Then hitched got a bit big for their boots and decided to start "The Mumdrum" everyone hated the name, the lay out. Its the reason i joined mumsnet, because it was so crap.

Changedmymindtoday · 05/03/2023 22:39

There are better private boards available now for brides to talk!
hitched is very generic.

Yoloohno · 05/03/2023 23:04

Yes, I started on there nearly 20 years ago planning my wedding, then migrated onto baby talk.

I had a crown and was particularly chatty and met some local ones.

Yoloohno · 05/03/2023 23:05

I remember the exodus to the deadwood after the telling off.

LaundryandDirt · 05/03/2023 23:14

Oh yes. In fact sometimes in my head when I’m logging in here I think “oh I’ll log in to hitched for a browse”. I only used the forum, I was already married. Can’t remember how or why I ended up there. There was such a diverse bunch of people. I remember a creepy kind of guy Nick, I think he was the only guy amongst millions of women and a single (I think) user SophieM who was very very posh, and she was likeable and disliked at the same time.

DoraDunebug · 05/03/2023 23:15

Was the flyover lady the same as the wallah lady?

Yoloohno · 05/03/2023 23:21

The bloke was nickj wasn’t it.

There were a few oddbods.

Shortpoet · 05/03/2023 23:21

I remember Wallah!

Also when someone had a hissy fit and meant to say that we were all Satan Lovers, but actually typed Satin Lovers, which caused a lot of laughter.

Shortpoet · 05/03/2023 23:23

Also whenever I see a celebrity’s name as a thread title on here, I always mentally add (Not dead) in brackets.

LakeWindermere · 05/03/2023 23:26

Yes I remember. There was LilyThePink on there. She was quite funny IIRC.

Oh yes, I remember NickJ on there too.

APurpleSquirrel · 05/03/2023 23:31

Oh I loved Hitched! It was my first foray into forums. Joined when we were planning our wedding. I did love the icons - much more diverse & expressive.

Yoloohno · 05/03/2023 23:31

Didn’t ltp have a partner who was in kids animation/ books?

tillytoodles1 · 06/03/2023 15:47

I remember someone having a wedding and all the hitchers she'd invited were sat in a sleigh with fake snow, I remember LaPsycho was one of them. I sometimes wonder if any of them are still friends. I always thought NickJ was quite a nasty bloke.

I was on there back in 2004 for my wedding then went onto the baby talk section in 2005-7 :)

WhoLetTheSprogsOut · 06/03/2023 16:54

Yes! Then 3 months after the wedding and honeymoon decided to start TTC so joined Mumsnet and never looked back 😂

SockQueen · 06/03/2023 16:58

Yes, I was there planning my wedding in 2011! I stuck around for a few years on the Off Topic board but didn't really go for the Baby Talk one as we didn't TTC straight after marrying.

Actually went to a few meetups and still have occasional contact with some old members on FB.
