Bastard Echo Dot kids won't play Audible

DS' Echo dot kids thing is only a couple of months old and has suddenly stopped playing audiobooks on Audible properly.

I ask it to 'Read a bedtime story' and the fucking thing says that it's finished playing the story, and is resuming it. Then silence.

I've googled endlessly and fiddled about with all the bloody settings and it's getting me nowhere. DS has ASD and listens to the same story every night; the fact that it's suddenly stopped working is upsetting him. I am going to launch the thing out the window soon because I have no patience with technology.

Someone pleeeeease tell me how to make it play bedtime stories again??

We’ve had this happen to us. Turning it off and on again (unplug and plug back in) usually fixes it.

I had this with my phone recently, I had to delete the audible app, reload it and log back in again

Have you tried thumping it?

I can't tell you how close I am to doing this

Have tried turning it on and off, software update, reset settings...no joy.

Use the Alexa app to control the playback - slide the dial back?

We had this on an echo show

We now have to say "Alexa show me (account holders name) audible library"

We have also got to be super specific - so it's "play Enid blyton Tree house from chapter one" rather than "restart" or "play from beginning"

It's so annoying!!! Hope that yours starts behaving soon!

Had this problem with my son’s echo dot and it just randomly started working again after trying everything I could think of.

Maybe try turning your wifi off and on again too, I think I tried that.

It’s also not working with the Disney Stories app that I use. Starts up like normal then suddenly cuts out.

Glad you got it sorted. I resort to my stern voice when Alexa plays up. She generally ignores me - bit like the kids!
