Bloody PH & ADD

Am livid. Just read:

"Dr Mate told the duke: “Reading the book, I diagnose you with ADD.”

He went on: “I don’t see it as a disease, I see it as a normal response to abnormal stress.""

FFS! One of my children has a diagnosis, another is on the pathway & I am struggling to get a referral. My GP says I'm "too articulate to have ADD", so refused to refer me yet. He doesn't see the hours of rehearsing that go into one 10min appointment, so I seem coherent.

Who knew, all I had to do was write a stupid book instead! All those observations, and tests - all of which can apparently be completely ignored if you are famous for whining on about your shit childhood. Does anyone know if Mate is actually a qualified Clinical Psychologist? I suspect not.

As for the comment on ADD being caused by stress. FUCK THE FUCKITY FUCK, OFF MATE.

Our issues have existed from birth. Yes, there are some things we can seem over sensitive to - living with misophonia is no fun, but the cause of ADD isn't a response to stress. Multiple Clinical Psychologists gave told me it is the way our brain is wired - not what this charlatan is suggesting.

Idiot comments like Mate's directly cause an increase in the ignorant comments, and prejudice we face. Ugh. Not looking forward to the conversations around this at work this week - many of which will mistakenly think he's right.

Harry is really giving therapy a bad name. His therapy clearly hasn’t worked and now he’s allowing an unqualified person to ‘diagnose’ him on TV. I wish he’d do something useful with his life and stop staring at his reflection in a pond full of .. pond life.

Totally agree with you OP. You can’t diagnose someone with ADHD from reading their ghost written book. It’s unethical for a start, and just totally wrong!

Did Harry write that? Because it's clear that he's prone to misunderstanding what people do and say to him, and that "his truth" may not be what others would consider the conventional, objective truth.

Just don't give it headspace.
