Where else has the Cavtat (Croatia) vibe?

Where can we go in Croatia/Sardinia/Corsica if we loved Cavtat but have been four times. We loved the sea/rock swimming in coves, not too many big modern hotels, smallish resort. Any ideas?

Oh, where did you stay in Cavtat? We were looking here for a holiday

GordonBennett345 · 05/03/2023 18:57

My friend has stayed in various Airbnbs and I have stayed in Hotel Croatia. Its lovely, but want to try somewhere new.

Istrian coast, Opatija? Both in Croatia, both lovely.

Parts of Montenegro have a similar vibe to Cavtat, particularly Tivat and Kotor Bay

Ooh, we've booked a villa in Cavtat this year! I'm so excited. Any recommendations for places to visit gratefully received Flowers

Thanks for the suggestions. Tbh we just stay around the town and go into Dubrovnik by boat or bus a couple of times.

I was thinking this, although I don't love the cruise ships in the main towns it is a lovely area.

I loved Alghero in Sardinia - great city base and around the area is unspoilt with a nature parc and swimming coves. We did it more as a (small) city break, but want to go back and explore further.

In Croatia
Rovinj
Hvar/Jelsa
Korula,
Primosten
Baska Voda

Sveti Stephan - think that's Montenegro now.

Where did you book in the end OP.

I loved Dubrovnik and had a day trip to Cavtat out of season but would love to try elsewhere end of June for 7 nights just with DH and no teens. Looked on Jet2 and Tui and can’t believe the prices!?!

Either the rooms look really shabby and dated, hotels extremely remote (I like a wander and would possibly like to visit other islands but don’t want anywhere too rammed) or the hotel reviews are very off putting. Saw a lovely hotel on the harbour in Hvar but almost £3500 for B&B.

Any suggestions anyone ideally would prefer to fly from Scotland, NE or NW.

Hvar

Not surprising, given your username!

BeeBB · 07/05/2023 15:35

Hvar looks very beautiful but maybe too expensive and too hectic for us.

Yes to Opatija! We did a week long gulet cruise from there last year and the town looked lovely, down by the water is obviously the nicest but the views from up high were so beautiful

AlliumFairy · 07/05/2023 16:27

Rovinj. Went there in 1982 and Cavtat the following year. Very similar though I preferred Rovinj.

We stayed in the Hotel Croatia in Cavtat a few years ago. Great hotel with stunning views across the harbour and out to sea. Loved the harbour restaurants, easy walk from the Hotel,. The taxi boat to Dubrovnik was a treat. Although a bit choppy coming back one tripGrin

We stayed in Istria last time which was great again although getting off of the peninsula was a bit slow at times.

Visited Montenegro and Bosnia very easily.

It's a great country with very friendly people. Hoping to go again soon.

We loved Zadar, did cheap Ryanair flights and stayed at Mirabilis Residence on a B and B basis. Lovely room and pool. Was a fair trek to town but Uber were reliable and cheap. Had days out on a couple of islands, Nin, Petrcane and plitvitce lakes. I prefered Zadar old town to Dubrovnik if I’m honest

scaredofpate · 07/05/2023 17:03

Porec is lovely. The old town is beautiful and there are lots of little rocky coves to explore. There's a small island opposite the town called Sveti Nikola which has a couple of hotels on it. Lovely and relaxing!

Would anyone have any idea what Cavtat is like at this time of year? Busy or not so much? Thinking of booking last min...
