Will they understand and give me another chance

so last month I was offered another job i really wanted the job but unfortunately a couple of weeks after accepting I lost 2 aunties in the space of 4 days to each other and it completely broke me, it’s only the past couple of weeks I’ve been feeling myself again

I was going to phone the employer tomorrow to firstly apologise and reapply as the position is still there. I’ve worked along side this company before so I’m hoping they understand not getting back to them was out of character

should I call or do you think I would be wasting my time?

What exactly happened. Did they phone you to offer you the job? And you didn't reply, or...? Did they email?

You have nothing to lose but if you didn't reply at all then I think it's understandable if they aren't interested tbh.

I don't understand, you accepted the job but didn't start work there? When were you supposed to start? Or have you just not responded to their requests to sign contracts etc?

Yes unfortunately with the shock of everything I completely shut down and didn’t submit the documents required ect required in the end. I completely shut the world off.

To be honest I’d completely understand if they wouldn’t be interested in hiring me again but it’s not my character to ever do that and I think if I even just apologised I’d feel better I’m just conscious of phoning but even if I just go to apologise I’d feel better and thank them for the opportunity
