Bay window cost (they're bloody massive!)

We desperately need to replace our windows. 30s semi, with the gable front, so we have 2 huge bays.
They both have 6 panes and I can't see any rough price guide online for anything bigger than 4 or 5.

Anyone had anything like this replaced recently? What did it cost and how messy/disruptive was it?!

My partner's a window fitter. The job would be done in a day and everything put back as it was, but cost-wise best advice is don't go through a home improvement or window fitting company. They'll overcharge by hundreds, if not thousands. Find a local fitter who'll buy the glass at cost (around £60 per pane for a bay window) and charge a reasonable amount for fitting. You'd be looking at under £1K compared to the £2-3K a bigger company would charge.

We had a bow window replaced recently. Cost nearly £3k and that was by far the cheapest quote we'd had, all quotes from local fitters. Not sure if bow are more expensive than bay but I wouldn't expect them to be. I guess they could be a little more complicated? I definitely suggest you get a few quotes and make sure you get recommendations too.

(Our bow has four separate windows in it.)

Thanks all, that's helpful.

@bonkersconkers101 any idea how I'd find a local fitter? Local paper?
