Restaurant ideas/theatre for birthday!

Hello everyone!

I am last minute.com.

Decided to do a last minute birthday treat for myself. Always do a celebration for the kids but don't do anything for myself so thought I am going to treat myself.

I am in my late 20's and most of my friends are around that age group to early 30's.

Looking for last minute ideas to do for my birthday. I live asian food (Chinese) and wanted to book the Ivy but it's fully booked! Can anyone else offer a swanky/creative but adult Chinese restaurant or another restaurant (does not have to be Chinese) which is similar to the Ivy.

Also, can anyone recommend an restaurant which includes some live performance... a theatre kind of thing whilst we are eating...

Thank you :)

When you say the Ivy’s fully booked do you mean all three Ivy Asias?

Is it Asian food? Is it good?

I think I looked at the one in St. Paul's but most are booked.

Min Jiang is lovely (you need to pre-book the crispy duck).

Perhaps worth trying the others if that’s what you really wanted to do.

I second Hakkasan for amazing food and atmosphere. No idea about entertainment though.

No, Zedel isn't Asian ( it's a Brasserie - the clue is in the name). But it does have live performance. Hakkasan is fantastic but is priced above Ivy chain prices.

No performance as such but Ting in the Shard has amazing views and you can go to the top for drinks.

That’s true, it’s definitely a set menu or signature menu’ type place.

Decent value lunch by comparison but still £££.

Or try Sican- Peruvian Japanese fusion food with entertainment

Any other ideas? I'm worried to try Basserie as I'm not fond of French food. All ivy chains are fully booked it have very late slots

Park chinois food sucks. Try tattu, similar pan Asian with a great view. Not truly authentic but delicious with fab drinks

Tattu looks amazing but I know my friend won't spend that much on food. Is there somewhere else similar but not dear on the pocket.

Tattu is about £15 more per person than the Ivy Asia etc if you go for a main/dessert etc or a few small plates.

DC’s like MBER near Monument. No ‘experience’ but the food was lovely, though and a younger crowd, ie. DS 21 likes it with his friends, DH and I (40/50’s) took them on a visit but wouldn’t necessarily have gone alone.

What about teppanyaki? Japanese rather than Chinese but there’s a bit of theatrics around making the food. Benihana is good and they’ll sing you happy birthday!

Champor Champor in London Bridge is good. Nice surroundings, bit more expensive than the Ivy but not much. Or Kin and Deum round the corner if you want modern Thai.

I've made a booking at Hakkasn Smile. Thanks everyone. Even though it is a bit over my budget, I spend so much on the DC's birthdays and now it's my turn to treat myself :)
