I saw a baby toilet today :)

Haven't seen one for years - in fact, I didn't recognise it as a mini loo at first. It was sat next to a big one and took me by surprise. Memories of primary school and tracing paper toilet paper came flooding back!

Yes, my life is that boring that sightings of baby toilets cause excitement :).

Also - are they still found outside of schools these days? I spotted mine in a village hall.

How sad must mine be ? I was hoping for a picture!

I see child height sinks in public places like shopping centres and think fondly of when my kids were little.

There's one in the baby change room at our local Morrisons.

Youraccountisnolongervalid · 04/03/2023 16:54

Aw that sounds so cute - I’ve never seen one.

I did actually think about taking a pic but then thought how sad that would be!

DD is primary age but I still appreciate public toilets, supermarkets and garden centres mainly, who have a kid height sink. Step stools don't cut it as they can't reach the taps.

At Blair Drummond Safari Park ALL the loos have an insert for small kids butts. When I am Governor of the World, all public loos will have one.

Funny, I've been out and about to various chain family restaurants, Asda and some private businesses this week with my toddler and thought about how non child friend everywhere is.

DS has to stretch up on tip toes if he wants to standy up wee. I have to bring a special little travel toilet seat and lift him up onto a big toilet as there's no stools and no baby toilets.

And don't get me started on sinks. It's no wonder we're a nation that needs reminders to wash their hands considering what a faff it is when small. Holding a child and pushing a tap then thrusting their hands under quick enough before the water stops is quite frankly so fucking annoying.

Skyliner1 · 04/03/2023 17:16

JamMaking I know someone who has this on their home toilet. They didn't buy it on purpose though, they just ordered the wrong toilet seat 😂

MotherOfCrocodiles · 04/03/2023 17:18

In ikea they have parent and child cubicles with a grownup loo and kids loo next to each other

And there is one in the mens too

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 04/03/2023 17:23

A few years ago I had to visit a nursery for work. The staff toilet was temporarily out of action so I had to use the baby toilets. The manager did make sure I was the only one in there as they had half height non-lockable doors.

Debenhams used to have these in their family toilet too. Very handy if you're bursting and also have a small child who can't wait.

John Lewis used to have family toilets that had one baby toilet and one grown up toilet next to each other in the cubicle. How brilliant was that?

Littlefaeries · 04/03/2023 17:36

We've got an extra tall toilet.
We needed a new toilet in our second bathroom and saw the tall one. It's only about 2 inches higher but my elderly dp's find it much easier when they're visiting.
I still prefer my normal sized toilet but as I get older it will be v. useful.

TreesAtSea · 04/03/2023 17:45

I've seen them in some shopping centres: standard size one together with a mini one in the same cubicle.

Bellagio40 · 04/03/2023 17:47

Omg tracing paper toilet paper!!! 🤣 I hadn’t thought about that in years, OP.

Surely the most redundant invention ever - not fit for purpose and painful into the bargain!

@Believers totally agree! It did nothing!!

Emptycrackedcup · 05/03/2023 04:56

Oh! There's a mall close to me that has an adult toilet and a baby one in the same cubicle, it so cute 😆

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 05/03/2023 06:36

Here's one. It was in a McDonalds in France.

You'll be please to know that I worked on the redevelopment of the Izal factory in Sheffield about 20 years ago.

Thank you @TwoLeftSocksWithHoles

London Zoo and Whipsnade have those! Love them. And randomly our local leisure centre does too.

John Lewis has the mini loos - really great, and means you can pee at the same time as your child, so you don’t have to spend 20mins in the cubicle while you all go.

Saschka · 05/03/2023 11:50

And I would love a law that all bathrooms need to have step stools. And hotel rooms. So many bathrooms DS6 can’t use independently because he can’t reach the sink and there is nothing for him to stand on.

Izal!!! I was trying to remember the name. It was stamped on each sheet, wasn’t it?
